The Tale of Two Dresses

There are two Lilly Pulitzer dresses I purchased while in college. I bought them, and then I never wore them because once it was time to put them on, I couldn't fit in either one! They both still have the tags on... Now that is sad to me. One of them is the prettiest dress I have ever seen and absolutely the best Lilly Pulitzer dress made (in my opinion). My only 2011 resolution is to fit in these dresses. I want to be able to wear them to a shower or bridal luncheon or to Paris or Rome. Progress has already been made... I was able to zip in to the only one I tried on Sunday. I had to see where I am, to be able to get where I am going. The fact that it zipped, and looked great on, brought lots of smiles. But we all know looks can be deceiving, right? I could. not. breathe. I didn't even try to sit, but I bet you I couldn't do it. I already have the clutch and shoes to match, so I am so ready to make this happen. My plan of attack is twofold.

Part One: Train for the aforementioned Disney Princess Half Marathon. A couple of months ago I mentally could not run one mile. I just didn't want to. Now I am up to six!! It is absolutely mind over matter. My body starts to regulate itself after mile three, and it says you can do this. My mind says, Andrea, how much more fun would it be to sit and watch Disney's Beauty & the Beast instead? But you just have to really, really want it and think about how good it will feel once you cross the mental finish line that is, I just ran six miles... nine miles... 13.1 miles!

My second plan of attack is minimal sweets. I eat right and practice portion control, but when it comes to sweets... Oh, la, la. I can't resist! I need one everyday - just a little something. So today for example, I am saying no sweets until Sunday night for a slice of future sister-in-love's 21st birthday cake. Only four days you say? It will certainly be an uphill battle for me. We're all in this together, and it's the baby steps that make it happen. Sweets includes drinks too... I went out the other night and caught myself drinking not one, but two Long Island Ice Teas. Where am I? Calorie bomb city! Mmm to rum and diet coke or a vodka light cranberry from this day forth.

So I put it out there, now to challenge myself and make it happen. Cheers to a new year and an improved me and an improved you!

Let's do this.
