Take Home Chef

I met one of my favorite celebrity chefs, Curtis Stone, at Southern Season.

He was cool, and Australian, so all around very cute. I asked if he would come home to cook us dinner, in regards to his past show, Take Home Chef, but it was not a success... this time.

Chuck E. Cheese

This place still makes for a fab time. We celebrated Laura's birthday here during lunch. We had surprise festivities planned complete with My Little Pony stickers and Lisa Frank notepads. We had a pizza party with crazy straws plus tokens to play skee ball and print pictures sketched by Chuck E. himself. This was definitely one of my best lunch breaks yet.

Home Happenings (and then some)

The Friday of Homecoming Weekend was quite the treat. I not only purchased the cutest Carolina plate amongst friends, champagne and canollis, but I got to meet one of the founders of Vietri, Susan Gravely. She's a fellow graduate of Carolina and a fun one at that!

Home Happenings Bit: Cutest plate is looking fresh atop books on our entryway table.

Homecoming Weekend

I laid out all of my goodies in anticipation of a happy weekend ahead. I enjoyed a golf tournament, working with my favorite local brewery, Big Boss, and taking in all things Heels.

My favorite photograph of the weekend is below {bottom, left} - a Bell Tower shadow.

I had fun with friends and enjoyed football paired with Carolina blue skies.

Then it was off to the Queen City to visit with sweet grandparents and see the Panthers.

While we saw two losses this weekend - it doesn't even matter when you're having fun.

Enjoying a brewery tour with Hank!

Hi, Nice Space!

Hi, Nice Space! showcases real people who have a really eye-catching space.

Paloma

Tequila + Grapefruit Juice + Lime Juice + Club Soda. I tried this libation at GetLit, and I saw this special the other night at Mexican - I do see concocting this drink in my future.

Hair Talk

I hate drying my hair. My friend Kathleen has the shiniest hair. She told me about some products, I decided to try a product, and a fantastic and inexpensive hair care plan was born.

I wash my hair with renewing moroccan argan oil shampoo by organix - it's less than $10. This coupled with Kathleen's suggestion of Garnier Fructis' moroccan sleek oil treatment has cut my hair dry time in half. Maybe it works differently on different hair, but it has been fantastic on me. I recommend the product on the left and at center, the one on the right is nice but not necessarily needed. It's a flat iron perfector, but I don't even straighten my hair, I just spray it when it's all said and done because it smells nice. So that's that - hair talk.

Olive Outfits

Don't mind me - I'll be shimmying through the week in my new Donald Pliner flats. Shimmer plus tassels makes a dream team for me. Oh, fall flats... Thanks, mom!

Sailin' on the Quote Boat

“Live each day as if it’s your last’, that was the conventional advice, but really, who had the energy for that? What if it rained or you felt a bit glandy? It just wasn’t practical. The trick of it, she told herself, is to be courageous and bold and make a difference. Not change the world exactly, just the bit around you. Go out there with your double-first, your passion and your new Smith Corona electric typewriter and work hard at … something. Change lives through art maybe. Write beautifully. Cherish your friends, stay true to your principles, live passionately and fully and well. Experience new things. Love and be loved if at all possible. Eat sensibly. Stuff like that.” - Emma Morley | One Day by David Nicholls

I'm okay with my drive to and from work...

A Dollop of Carolina

This past Friday I enjoyed a day sprinkled with extra Carolina. I painted a Carolina pumpkin, pledged to be more green to receive a Carolina Nalgene and even tie-dyed a Caroline blue shirt at an event called Tar Heels 'Til We Dye. It was a great day to be a Tar Heel.

DBTT 11

Down by the Tracks is becoming one of my favorite days of the year. It's a dog-friendly block party with beer, food trucks, treats and fun - all to benefit the SPCA. There's an awesome silent auction, and Hank and Nick won the corn hole tournament this year.

Bentley started the day with lots of enthusiasm...

Meet sweet Josie - another English Bulldog pup. There's Jen and Mister, below, followed by a few family portraits. We basically held it down in the same spot all day for the corn hole tournament. It was well worth it as we got to take home new boards.

Photo booth - last year's strip plus this year's strip.

We enjoyed a little patio dining at the end of the day. I would say Bentley had fun.
